“So you think there not much to do at the weekend in this commercial urban city?”
That is a common thought amongst most tourists before they visit this destination. We have guided many travelers who said they wished they had booked to spend more time in Saigon.
Hochiminh City (formerly known as Saigon) is a huge urban city with a great history & architecture, lifestyle, and cuisine… Are you ready to explore the city at the weekend?

Things to do in Ho Chi Minh city: Vietnam War
Start at The Reunification Palace (aka the Presidential Palace), the historical place where the VC tanks crashed through the gates in 30 April 1975, heralding an end to the Vietnam War. And when Saigon changed it’s name to the new name of Hochiminh City. If you have local guides, that is really helpful. They would tell you the unknown stories about the Vietnam War in detail. It takes about an hour to see the whole Palace, the main 60s architecture building.
Then, take a stroll along Le Duan Park (also known as Sitting Cafe Park) in front of the Palace. At the weekend, this is the place to hang out; friends, couples, families all gather at “Sitting Cafe” having a drink or local snacks & fruits; watching life pass by.
Close by are Notre Dame Cathedral & Saigon Post Office, two places that you could spend some time at to take photos. Many couples come here to have wedding-photos taken (Vietnamese’s custom weddings). You can also buy peas to feed the pigeons.
